StoryCorps at Nomadic Press

  • Nomadic Press (Uptown) 2301 Telegraph Avenue Oakland, CA, 94612 United States (map)

Starting in 2017, we are excited to announce that Nomadic Press is a community partner with StoryCorps, the national project to instruct and inspire people to record each others' stories in sound

All day on March 7, StoryCorps will be set up to record personal stories at the new Nomadic Press location at 23rd and Telegraph in Uptown, Oakland. Recordings capture an interview between two people and will take place from 10-12, and 1-5ish. There will be roughly six (6) slots for interviews, so if you are interested, please shoot us an email with the proposed pair and why you think it might be a good fit for our StoryCorps debut!

And if you are interested in coming by to just watch and listen, you are more than welcome!

StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind. A StoryCorps interview is 40 minutes of uninterrupted time for meaningful conversation between two friends or loved ones. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 60,000 interviews from more than 100,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and may be preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Millions listen to our weekly broadcasts on NPR’s Morning Edition and on StoryCorps’ Listen Page.
