Join us at our Oakland workspace for a night of readings, music, wine, and general good times. Readings by Marc Zegans and musical performances by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Karlyn DeSteno.

Marc Zegans is a poet and creative development advisor. He has recorded two spoken word albums, Nightwork (Philistine Records), and Marker and Parker (Tiny Mind Records), a book or erotic Senryu, Pillow Talk, with artist Gabrielle Senza (G.Spot Press), and publishers regularly in poetry journals. He has a new collection of poems, The Underwater Typewriter, forthcoming from Pelekinesis Press in Fall 2015. As a creative development advisor, he works with actors, animators, directors, musicians, visual artists, artistic directors, arts organizations, and creatively driven firms, helping them to foster rich and vibrant creative growth. His clients hail from the far corners of the earth. If you wish to learn more about his services, go to mycreativedevelopment.com.

Karlyn DeSteno is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Often associated with New Folk and “Americana,” DeSteno’s work resists identification with any one genre. Her songwriting is equally at home in long, weird narratives, gospel- and bluegrass-style hymns, and in what critics have called “new old standards.”

Karlyn started writing, singing, and playing music in her home state, Minnesota, and has spent most of the last decade on an odyssey of sorts, finding musical home-bases in Oakland, Brooklyn, and Saint Paul. After years of honing her popular, intimate live shows, she is finally documenting her songs for a full-length album, due in April 2015.
