MK Chavez is the author of Virgin Eyes (Zeitgeist Press) Visitation, Next Exit #9 (with John Sweet), and Pinnacle (Kendra Steiner Editions.) Recent and upcoming work can be found in Eleven Eleven, Rivet, This is Poetry, and Culture Magazine. She is co-founder/co-curator of the Berkeley-based monthly reading series Lyrics & Dirges and co-organizes the yearly Berkeley Poetry Festival.

Michelle Ruiz Keil is a short story writer, novelist, and playwright. Her play, Pure Gold Baby, was produced twice in Portland, Oregon, and a film of the production was screened at Portland’s Hollywood Theater. Her short story, “Random Magick,” received an honorable mention in a Glimmer Train short story contest. Michelle also teaches acting and writing to youth, co-created a literary curriculum that empowers current and former sex workers to tell their stories, helped run a free school, and has a way with animals. A Bay Area native, Michelle now lives in a cottage in the woods in Portland, Oregon.

Billy Burgos is an illustrator/designer/poet from Los Angeles. He is a curator on staff at Gotpoetry.com. His poetry has been featured in both anthologies, literary journals, and zines. In 2007, Billy was chosen as an up-and-coming poet by the Los Angeles Poetry Festival. He has served as workshop facilitator of the Beyond Baroque Wednesday-night workshop and hosts the First Sunday Open Reading at Beyond Baroque. Billy is the host of Word Ballast, a blogtalk poetry show where he has interviewed such poets as Nikki Giovanni, Nikky Finney, Thomas Sayers Ellis, and Nick Flynn. His vivid paintings of some of L.A's most interesting poets called "The Faces of Poetry" is a traveling gallery/poetry exhibit, which has been featured in both art journals as well as KCET. His first full-length collection of poetry called Eulogy to an Unknown Tree is out now on Writ Large Press.

Shoulderblades is Oakland-based songwriter Annelyse Gelman's mobile amplified-bedroom project—lyrical, spooky, and surreal indie rock grounded with guitar-and-vocals and buoyed by an evolving cast of supporting musicians, currently including violinist Claire Edelmann and drummer Kevin McCarthy-Anderson. The first Shoulderblades release, Six Songs EP, is available at shoulderblades.bandcamp.com.

Parking

There is ample street parking, but just to make it easy, there is an O'Reilly Auto Parts/Walgreens on the corner of Fruitvale and Foothill with a huge parking lot. Here's a Google Map link: https://www.google.com/maps/place/O'Reilly+Auto+Parts/@37.789393,-122.233008,14z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1so+reilly+auto+parts+near+Foothill+Blvd,+Oakland,+CA!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xa74c9fbc2152bd68

Nomadic Press should show up on that map as well. We are just in between Austin and Rutherford on Foothill.
