Have you felt like submitting your manuscript to a small press is like sending a manuscript into an unknown void? Have you ever felt uneasy about how you have presented your manuscript, not knowing if it has been submitted in the correct format? Have you submitted and worried that you are following up too much or too little regarding your manuscript?
Join Nomadic Press' founder and managing editor, J. K. Fowler, at the new Nomadic Press Uptown location as he leads writers through a step-by-step instruction on how to prepare your manuscript for publication and save your potential publisher the headaches of sifting through wildly varying manuscripts. Some of the topics covered will be as follows: manuscript formatting (including fonts, cover pages, general dos and donts), communication (what constitutes too much or too little follow up), managing expectations as a submitter to small presses. After you have submitted and it has been accepted for publication, what can you expect the process to ideally look like? What do you do if it falls short of your expectations? How much money can you expect from the publication?
The workshop will lead the audience through general guidelines around all of these items, and more, and there will be plenty of time for Q&A at the end. Please note that J. K. will not be able to review your entire manuscript at this workshop, but if there are specific questions that you would like to ask, they are more than welcome.
Suggested donations of $5-25, with no one turned away for lack of funds, and small gnosh will be provided. Limited to 20 people.
