Be Live About It (featuring Pam Benjamin, Wendy Trevino, Lake Lady, and our in-house band, Oakland Future Trio)

  • Woods Bar & Brewery 1701 Telegraph Ave Oakland, CA, 94612 United States (map)

Join us at the first-ever Be Live About It variety show with co-hosts Alexandra Naughton and J. K. Fowler of Nomadic Press. Think Saturday Night Live meets The Tonight Show meets All That meets that weird thing your younger cousin does in their basement with a tape recorder.

A little over one hour of programming featuring an in-house instrumental band, Oakland Future Trio, poetry, comedy, and a sit-down interview where the co-hosts dive into the process and personality of one of the features on that particular night.

It's all being recorded and published on a podcast, That Lit Podcast, for the sake of posterity and general web fame.

Oh, and the venue? None other than the fabulous Woods Bar & Brewery on 17th and Telegraph in Uptown Oakland. We'll be up on the second floor where all of their beer is made, and there will be no shortage of tasty libations down below in the bar, including not only their beer but a fine selection of wines, as well.

Featuring!!!

comedy: PAM BENJAMIN
poetry: WENDY TREVINO
music: LAKE LADY

Cash and credit card donations will be kindly called for throughout the night and proceeds will go toward the writers and artists performing as well as the Be Live About It show.

They will take place every fourth Tuesday, depending on how the first few go, so come out and support your growing East Bay community of writers and artists!

Lake Lady Ukulele Project is changing the world's preconceived notion of ukuleles one song at a time. Combining ukulele and vocals with bass and accordion, this original music, mostly acoustic Oakland, CA band plays alternative folk pop with a soulful twist. http://lakeladyukuleleproject.bandcamp.com/

Comedian Pam Benjamin is the Director of Mutiny Radio.fm where she is also the host and producer of Pamtastic's Comedy Clubhouse (Every Friday 8-10pm for four years), Joke Workshop, MRT3K and Alta-Cast. She has two published novels (buy Voices on Kindle!), 49 internationally published poems and some advanced degrees in writing because she likes framed pieces of paper in her breakfast nook. Oh, and some people think she's funny.
