Join us for another talent-filled Uptown Fridays featuring readings by Nicole Jost and Ash Tré Phillips, with musical guest Dennis Ray Powell. Emceed by Paul Corman-Roberts and curated by René Vaz.

To help pay for our space and ensure that we can continue our robust programming series, we are calling for $10 at the door (plus whatever else you may be able to give), but no one turned away for lack of funds.Nomadic Press, as always, will be for sale at the event.

Information about the performers:

Nicole Jost is a playwright and educator. Her plays have been staged and read at SF Playhouse, Z Below, PlayGround, ReproRights! Theater, and the SF Olympians Festival here in San Francisco; at Gadfly Theatre Productions in Minneapolis; and at Rorschach Theatre, The Inkwell, and the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC. She is a two-time winner of the James Milton Highsmith Playwriting Award for queer theater and a national semi-finalist for The Kennedy Center’s John Cauble Award for Outstanding Short Play. Her short plays have been published in Fourteen Hills and Transfer Magazine. Coming up, her play The Terror Fantastic will be produced by 20% Theatre Company in Minneapolis, and her play Sucia will be produced at SF State in a production directed by Roy Conboy. Nicole has also received a commission from PlayGround to develop Monarchs in Space, a play inspired by the real-life experiment that sent three monarch caterpillars to the International Space Station in 2009. She is currently pursuing her M.F.A. in Playwriting at SF State.

Ash Tre Phillips is a genderqueer Bay Area born and raised poet. They made it to the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam final stage in 2015 and 2016. Having graduated high school in 2016, Ash is currently working on self publishing their own chapbook. In the meantime, they can be found feeding their coffee addiction as a barista at Philz Coffee Castro.
