Summer Writes with Nomadic Press and GAMBA Magazine at The Hollows

  • The Hollows 151 Bedford Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11211 United States (map)

Nomadic Press and GAMBA Magazine are collaborating on a series of events to celebrate creative independence and the building of artist communities in Brooklyn and beyond. Both organizations strongly believe in promoting diversity, autonomy and cross genre collaboration and plan to celebrate with a seasonal series of performances. Each performance is especially curated to highlight artists who have worked with both GAMBA and Nomadic Press throughout the year.

To kick off the series is Summer Nights with GAMBA and Nomadic Press at The Hollows. The Hollows, a live/work/exhibit space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, curates exhibitions and programs with artists from across the globe. We will be setting up in their new outdoor space and performances will include saxophone players, acoustic guitars, singer songwriters and of course the poetry and readings that have bridged our two communities together.

Lineup includes:

Brian Sheffield
Jessica Reidy
Nathaniel Kressen
Dallas Athent
M.H. Gurney
Chris Carr
Jon Eckhaus
Chris Campanioni
Christine Stoddard
Craig Kite

July Sound at The Hollows Eastyard explores the nuances of performing in electronic and electroacoustic music. Twelve artists and artist groups over the course of four Saturdays will offer their solutions to the modern headache of performing electronically manipulated music. Each day will offer a mixture of approaches spanning multiple genres. Performances will range from analog loop based collages to live synthesis, computer triggering, and spoken word. Performing artists include James K, Cameron Orr, Salt Cathedral, members of Orchid Tapes label, and many more.

Although the event goes from 5-8 there will be an after party at Hell Phone run by Brooklyn Wildlife with a plethora of diverse musical performances. We hope you will join us for an extravaganza of talent
