Step through the red English call box at the back of Angel Noir Cafe, and emerge into the evocative atmosphere of Hell Phone's secret back room afor a storytelling event all about Bushwick. Headlined and curated by Dallas Athent, she will be joined by Danielle DeJesus, Katarina Hybenova, and Modesto Flako Jimenez, with music by The F Tnnes.

Donations will be kindly called for, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

DALLAS ATHENT

DANIELLE DEJESUS

Danielle DeJesus is a photographer and artist raised in Bushwick. She has been documenting people and places in Bushwick since 2008 in an effort to capture the landscape of a neighborhood that is actively changing. KATARINA HYBENOVA

Katarina Hybenova is a journalist and an entrepreneur, founder & editor-in-chief of Bushwick Daily and its print quarterly sibling Bushwick Notebook. She was born and raised in post-communist Czechoslovakia, later Slovakia. Her background is in business law -- she studied and worked in Prague, Leuven (Belgium) and New York. Katarina was a 2014 fellow at Tow Knight Center of Entrepreneurial Journalism. MODESTO FLAKO JIMENEZ

Modesto Flako Jimenez is a Dominican-born actor, writer and arts educator raised in Brooklyn. While still in high school he co-founded Real People Theater, a company best known for reworking plays by combining some of the language of the original texts with street slang and Spanish, including Milton’s Paradise Lost and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. He has performed on stage with the Wooster Group and Repertorio Español in New York and appeared on broadcast and online radio to discuss politics throughout the Spanish-speaking world and to share his poems and stories. A board member of Brooklyn Poets. Has also appeared on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, BK Live, NY1, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal,  and shared the stage with Wallace Shawn, Frances McDormand and Maura Tierney. THE F TONES
